A Sports Utility Vehicle, or commonly called as SUV, is a vehicle that looks like a station wagon but has towing capacity of a full-sized truck. In addition, SUVs are built on a light-truck chassis and the passenger capacity of these vehicles resembles that of a minivan.
With this basic description of SUV, it is a stereotype to categorize this vehicle as a big car. But since not all people are interested in driving big SUVs but want to own this kind of vehicle, a lot of known car companies manufacture and sell out different small SUV models to suit the needs and preferences of buyers and provide utmost convenience for them.

Aside from being spacious, another edge of small SUV models is that these wheels are fuel-efficient. The fuel efficiently of small SUV models is mainly due to its small frame, which is opposed to bigger and heavier SUVs, wherein the latter consume more fuel, as they are pulled more by gravity. As a result, small SUV models are more economical and ideal for money-concern drivers.
Compared to other models, particularly the bigger ones, small SUV models are more affordable especially since there are a lot of competing players in the market. Manufacturers tend to lower their prices while the demand for small SUV models increases due to intense competition among small to big car companies.
Studies show that compact SUVs, which are the smallest among the SUV models, have recorded massive sales worldwide. Most of these models originated from Japan and Thailand. Other suppliers are based in the Untied States and across Europe, such as in Germany, France and Untied Kingdom. Asian suppliers from China, South Korea and Taiwan are also key suppliers in producing such vehicles.
Some of the most popular small SUV models with good performance are Honda CR-V, Ford Escape Hybrid, Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Tucson, Subaru Forester and Nissan Rogue. These are all small SUV models but equipped with different features depending on the brand’s standards.
Even though there are many financial problems roaming across the globe these days, people are still taking risks and invest on vehicles either as a necessity or mere luxury.
But no matter what the reasons are for purchasing vehicles, based on the current trend on buying small SUV models, these vehicles will definitely boom in the industry for the upcoming years.
